President

Chad C. Lela

Mr. Lela founded iEC after 20+ years of experience in industry developing a strong skill set. His goal is to bring expert capabilities to companies who can maximize results from an agile and cost-effective engineering consultancy. He has a professional passion for leadership growth, technology capability, and product development.

Mr. Lela’s credentials include a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Cum Laude degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville followed by extensive expertise in departmental and personnel management, program management, engine and vehicle calibration development, control system and fuel system development, application development, engine and vehicle testing, R&D test facility design and test systems engineering.

Mr. Lela began his career at Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) in San Antonio, TX. At SwRI, his focus was testing for compliance, emissions system and calibration development, and new emissions regulation developments for engines and vehicles, and published several papers and reports in the field. In 2004, he joined EControls, LLC in San Antonio as part of the core technical team focused on calibration engineering, control system development, and engine testing across a wide range of applications while expanding into roles of leadership. Under his direction and leadership, a diverse team of engineers and technicians designed and built a new engine R&D test facility, developed engine calibrations, and supported customer application programs. In 2013, Mr. Lela joined Power Solutions International (PSI) to start and oversee a new, multi-disciplinary technical team within engineering to support engine calibration development and engine testing for all application markets served by the company. In this capacity, he also served as a Chief Engineer providing technical leadership for calibration programs and was consulted by numerous PSI teams and departments on engine performance specification, future technology developments, engine testing, controls development, and calibration support. Mr. Lela was instrumental in heading the technical efforts associated with supporting PSI’s acquisition of an R&D Engine Test Center in the Chicagoland area to further the company’s product development capabilities. He subsequently lead the organization’s integration of the laboratory into the company with the support of many team members. During Mr. Lela’s tenure at PSI, he lead these department to grow the structure and technical capabilities of the organization, expanding the group from seven members to over 45 in support of the company’s growth and investing in the development of several future leaders in the company.
